You can chalk up another point for men, as they have now been confirmed as better at Quality Assurance (QA) than women when it comes to technology. It seems that their persistent inability to ask for directions, as well as a tendency to fly into a blind rage makes them almost identical to the average internet user. We talked with Dr. Christoff Koerber* about this at his lab in New Mexico. And while he was happy to talk to us, his accent made it especially hard to understand him.
“Well you see, when the man’s brain is made in the womb, it contains more anger than your average woman’s brain. [indistinct muttering] and so you have to really pay close attention to the way that they handle themselves to prevent further damage. [turns to work] … [turns back] Oh, you’re still here. um… science.”
Well, there you have it folks, Men are better at QA because they are more hostile to new things.
After that discussion with Dr. Koerber*, we decided to do some research of our own. We gave 10 of our male colleagues a computer and asked them to attempt to navigate through a virtual maze using only their keyboard. 3 of our subjects immediately attempted to navigate using the mouse (to no avail) while 1 subject just grunted and said “I’m too busy”. After about 30 minutes, 7 of our 10 participants had given up and angrily left the room. (We believe the other 3 may have been sleeping.)
